Provide advanced resuscitation

Information about this unit:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory

 

Target audience:

Existing workers in this industry who may require advanced first aid training as recommended by the Australian Resuscitation Council.

Prerequisite:

Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.

Clothing: We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. Pants and flat shoes are recommended.

 

Award Issued:

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded
the statement of attainment for:

 

  • HLTAID007 Provide advanced resuscitation

  • HLTAID001 Perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation

 

Initial Course duration:  

Face to Face:  4 to 6 hours face to face training

 

Refresher course duration:  

Face to Face: 4 hours face to face training and you must supply a copy of your current certificate

 

(Recertification recommended every 12 months).

 

Important information regarding course durations:

Multiple choice questions - knowledge assessment

 

  • Demonstrate CPR

  • Administer oxygen to a patient with chest pain

  • Administer oxygen to a patient that is unconscious

  • Complete a first aid treatment report

Important Note: CPR must be demonstrated on the floor
