Management of Asthma risks and emergencies in the workplace
Information about this unit:
This unit of competency provides the skills and knowledge to be able to handle asthma emergency situations in the workplace. It provides background knowledge of the causes, symptoms and effects of asthma as well as emergency treatment.

Prerequisite:
Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.
Clothing: We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. Pants and flat shoes are recommended.
Award Issued:
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded
the statement of attainment for:

Initial Course duration:
Mixed Mode: Completion of pre-course study plus 2 hours practical training
​Face to Face: 4 hours face to face training
Refresher Course duration:
Mixed Mode: Completion pre-course study plus 2 hours practical training
Face to Face: 4 hours face to face training
Important information regarding course durations:
Course durations, as mentioned above, are reflective of group sizes of between 4 and 15 participants. If there are less students in a group, you may find course duration reduced
by a maximum of 10%. If a class size exceeds 15 participants it may therefore also be necessary to increase course duration depending on the number of participants.
Refresher or Recertification of First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis:
Recertification is recommended every 3 years.
To qualify for a refresher course, you must bring a copy of your current certificate
to the training session. You will then be required to:

Complete the online or downloadable pre-course workbook and attend a 2
hour practical session. -
Proof of currency must be submitted to qualify for this course
The following assessment tasks are required for this course:
Written assessment consisting of 19 questions (combination of multiple choice and short answer questions).
