Provide first aid

Information about this unit:

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings.

 

Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority.

 

Target audience:

Those who are required to provide an emergency first aid response in a workplace.

 

Prerequisite:

Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.

Clothing: We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor. Pants and flat shoes are recommended.

Award issued:

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training
will be awarded the statement of attainment for: 

 

  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid

  • ​HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

 

Initial Course duration:

Face to Face: Minimum of 8 hours face to face training

 

Refresher Course duration:

Face to Face:  6 hours face to face training

Blended Learning duration:

2 -3  hour online learning

2 hours Face to Face practical assessments

HLTAID011 How will I be assessed for this course?

The following assessment tasks are required for this course:

 

  • Completion of the online assessments.

  • 8 Performance evidence tasks

  • 52 Multiple choice questions - knowledge assessment
